Prodigious Transience: The Art of Conciseness

I’m grateful to my uncle who shared this quote; “I apologize for the length of this letter. I didn’t have the time to make it short.”

In our high paced societies, no one wants to spend a lot of time reading to get to the point. Fast and to the point is in high demand — but it’s hard to offer.

How do you keep something as short as possible without losing quality and content?

Whenever you read something, try stating the main point with fewer words. Learn new vocabulary, it helps.

Prodigious: Extraordinary in size, amount, extent, degree, etc.

Transience: The state of existing briefly, a short time, transitory.

Conciseness: The quality of being concise — expressing much in few words.

Get attention. Make your point. Call to action.

Information packed conciseness = instant optimized value.

Opposite example: A 3,000 page manual on how to be pointed and concise. (Apparently, such things exist).

Artistic elucidation can help add pleasure to the experience if it is used strategically and in proper moderation. Warmth and beauty within quantitative limits can be poetry and enticing in any format.

If anything “unnecessary” is left in a manuscript, be sure it is intentional and truly enhances, rather than detracts from, the point and experience.

Do you find it difficult to be succinct?

What do you do to help yourself not ramble?

Thank you for reading! I hope you’ve enjoyed it and found it useful.
